1. Instant On-Device Deletion
You can instantly delete all local data and cryptographic keys from your device:
- Open the Sparkler app.
- Go to the Profile Tab (bottom right).
- Tap the Settings icon (top right).
- Scroll down and tap Reset Account / Log Out.
This completely erases your private key (nsec) and profile cache from your local hardware storage.
2. Location & Proximity Purge
Sparkler does not track your location continuously. We only store approximate location indices for discovery matchmaking:
- To delete your proximity data instantly, navigate to Settings -> Clear Location Now inside the app.
- Alternatively, proximity location data is automatically expired and permanently deleted from our database after 60 minutes of inactivity.

3. Decentralized Relays & Profile Data
Sparkler is built on the decentralized Nostr protocol. When you choose to delete your account:
- The app automatically publishes a NIP-09 deletion request (Kind 5 event) to all connected relays.
- This signals to the open network to drop your profile (Kind 30400) and posts.
- Please note: Because Nostr relays are open and run independently, we cannot force third-party relays to comply, though most standard relays will respect the deletion request automatically.
4. Submit a Manual Request
If you no longer have access to the app and want to manually request the deletion of any cached indexes associated with your public key (npub), send an email to our support team:
